My home is currently being mitigated for loss from storm damage and the spiral of everything afterwards. Myself, another occupant, and my two dogs came across this place after discovering everyone else in the area was booked up due to the solar plant construction. The house was nice other than the constant door slamming over and over from housekeeping along with them leaving the front door open 4x. Very secure....not... In addition we told them the sliding patio door would not latch allowing anyone to get in. They came out and didn't fix it. From get go there was no logistics, information given, or any sense of professionalism for a company in the hospitality industry. We had to switch to a 2bedroom cabin half way due to the house being booked. To our surprise you get the added perk of free cuddly rodents to cuddle with at night. Bed was full of acorns, chewed and whole scattered in the beds. Mouse poop everywhere as well. Water was grey and polluted, probably undrinkable. To top it off which really ticked me off, they had live hinge traps scattered about and didn't tell us ahead of time with us having dogs. Great that they didn't tell us and risked the dogs having mouse traps snap of them or to eat the poison. As of tonight we are going back to the toxic black mold infested house because that is safer than this cabin full of a known pest/rodent problem. Unacceptable. Avoid at all costs.

My wife and I hoped to find a unique and fun place to stay, so rather than stay at one of the chains we took a chance on the independently owned Veterans Landing. When our gps finally brought us within a quarter mile of the place we were met by huge earth moving machines blocking the road. It was impossible to reach by car. Undaunted, we parked our car at around 9:00 pm, grabbed our luggage and started walking alongside the torn up road. Eventually we came to an unpassable section so we veered right passing between two badly neglected homes. Not only were the homes scary, the occupants were strangely outside vacuuming the dirt. I thought to myself this is real-life Breaking Bad stuff and wouldn't have been surprised to see Jessie Pinkman making a drop off. After passing the yard groomers we passed between overgrown bushes and trees to find our place for the night. Suddenly I realized Breaking Bad was nothing compared the Friday the 13th cottage we came upon. Spider webs, dust, and dirt covered low-quality finishes. When we quickly found our bedroom (which was an entryway converted into a room) we couldn't stand on either side of the bed. Even worse, an outside door was all that separated us from Jason. Needless to say, I didn't sleep a wink. When daylight broke, realizing we survived the night, we headed home grateful it was only for one night. I wish I had checked reviews on Trip Advisor and Yelp before relying on the Googlemaps reviews which are a little suspect to say the least. Oh, well. You live and learn.

Cabin was not even clean enough to be up to basic sanitary codes. The cleaning staff clearly has no standards at all. I've never had a hospitality staff so rude, dishonest, and disrespectful towards their guests. Cabin amenities were very outdated and look like they are not maintained well especially in the winter. The beds are not even comfortable and the trains nearby are so loud I could not sleep. Old cigarette butts outside, rodent feces in the closet, and dirty toilets were the worst parts of the cabin. I reluctantly stayed here because it was the only available place in the area. I would highly discourage anyone from wasting their money and compromising their health by staying in these disgusting cabins.

Overall the place was ok. The cabin was dirty and outdated. You couldn't see the lake from the cabin

No STARS would be appropriate in this case. Do NOT waste your money. The first cabin we tried smelled like an ashtray and there was blood on the floor. The second wasn't an ashtray but still nasty dirty.Trains come and go across the street all night long so you will not sleep.
